Not a restaurant, but a dessert stall in Borough Market. Humble Crumble is anything but humble.

If you are a fan of apple crumble and all things dessert, then this is well worth a visit. You can choose from a variety fruit bases, adjust your fruit/crumble ratio and pick hot or cold toppings. Not everyone likes dessert served the same way, and humble crumble certainly let you have it your own way.

Join the (likely very long) queue, and once you reach the counter you can give the friendly staff your order or use the tablets to order yourself.

The fruit bases often have seasonal options but of course you can’t go wrong with apple and cinnamon or mixed berry, or both! During one of my visits (yes, I’ve been more than once, no shame here!) they had a nectarine and sour cherry base- the perfect combination of sweet and sour!

Humble Crumble’s classic shortbread topping is a real winner. if you don’t fancy that, they offer superfood granola as an alternative. As for the toppings, choose from custard (hot, cold or frozen), whipped cream, blowtorched marshmallows, yoghurt or even chocolate drizzle. You can add meringue pieces and rose petals too.

If you really fancy taking it up a notch try the Crumbrulee, blowtorched sugar on top or hot or cold custard for the wow factor.

For Valentines Day 2024, they have launched a special edition crumble. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry fruit compote, topped with chocolate shortbread and finished with raspberry whipped cream, a drizzle of dark chocolate and freeze dried raspberry. I can confirm it looks and tasted as good as it sounds. Run, don’t walk, this special is only available 1-29 Feb!

The crumble pots are picturesque and served with a tray,so no spillage goes to waste, they really have thought of it all!

Remember to keep the staff out of your pictures (there are signs politely reminding you of this). Proof that this stall is insta-famous for sure.
